Zutaten

  • 8 slice day-old white bread
  • 3 piece eggs
  • 250 ml milk
  • 40 g sugar
  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar
  • 5 g ground cinnamon
  • 40 g butter
  • 1 pinch salt

Zubereitung

  1. Whisk the eggs, milk, half of the sugar, the vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt in a shallow dish until you have a smooth custard.
  2. Dip the bread slices one by one into the custard, letting each side soak for about 20 seconds so they absorb the liquid without falling apart.
  3. Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat and fry the slices in batches for two to three minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Mix the remaining sugar with the cinnamon, dust it over the hot French toast and serve immediately.
