Pizza rolls from the airfryer

⏱ 30 min · 🍽️ 4 Portionen · 🧂 9 Zutaten

Zutaten

  • 4 piece day-old bread rolls
  • 150 ml sieved tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato purée
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 80 g salami (sliced)
  • 150 g grated hard cheese
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Zubereitung

  1. Halve the day-old rolls horizontally so that you end up with eight halves of the same size.
  2. Mix the sieved tomatoes with the tomato purée, the dried oregano, the salt and the sugar and spread it thinly over the cut surfaces. The sugar takes the acidity out of the sauce, the oregano brings the familiar smell of pizza.
  3. Top the halves with the salami, scatter over the grated hard cheese and drizzle the olive oil on top so that the cheese melts to a glossy finish.
  4. Cut a piece of baking paper to the size of the basket and lay it in. It must not stick out over the rim and has to be weighed down by the halved rolls, or it will fly into the fan.
  5. Preheat the airfryer to 180 °C so that the topping gets hot immediately and the bread stays crisp.
  6. Put the halves topping side up on the baking paper in a single layer with space between them and do not stack anything; four to six halves will fit, the rest go in a second batch. Cook at 180 °C.
  7. Carry on cooking at 180 °C without turning them, until the cheese bubbles and the edges are golden brown.

Pizza rolls from the airfryer

A German party buffet classic known all over the country: day-old rolls halved and topped with a savoury tomato sauce, salami and grated hard cheese, out of the basket in twelve minutes. The airfryer blows the heat from above straight onto the topping, so the cheese bubbles and the edges turn golden brown while an oven would still be preheating. It is just that not all eight halves fit in at once, only four to six.
