Reheating day-old pizza slices in the airfryer

⏱ 12 min · 🍽️ 2 Portionen · 🧂 3 Zutaten

Zutaten

  • 4 piece pizza slices (day-old, cold)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • pepper to taste

Zubereitung

  1. Take the pizza slices out of the fridge and let them warm up at room temperature. Ice-cold slices get hot at the edge long before the topping in the middle reaches the necessary 70 °C.
  2. Preheat the airfryer to 160 °C. Without preheating the cheese dries out before the base turns crisp again.
  3. Lay the pizza slices in the basket without oil in a single layer with space between them and do not stack anything; reheat larger quantities in two batches. The topping brings enough fat with it. Reheat at 160 °C.
  4. They are not turned, because the topping would fall into the basket and burn on the heating element. Finish reheating at 160 °C until the cheese melts again and the topping is piping hot at 70 °C right through.
  5. Scatter the dried oregano and pepper to taste over the slices and serve them straight away.

Reheating day-old pizza slices in the airfryer

A German leftovers dish that comes out of fridges all over the country: four cold slices of yesterday's pizza turn as crisp as freshly baked again in the basket. In the microwave the base goes soft and leathery, in the hot air it crackles again and the cheese melts anew — that is the whole point of this recipe. Oil and defrosting are not needed, but only two or three slices fit side by side in the basket.
