Air Fryer Bratkartoffeln from Raw Potatoes (German Fried Potatoes)
An everyday German recipe that comes to the table all over Germany: Bratkartoffeln made from raw slices, with no pre-cooking and no boiled potatoes from the day before. The slices turn crisp and golden on the outside, with soft onion rings in between, and the scent of marjoram over it all. In the basket two tablespoons of oil are enough instead of a well-greased pan, but the slices stay drier and less creamy than they do in a pan.

Zubereitung
- 1
Peel the potatoes and cut them into slices 5 mm thick, all about the same thickness.
- 2
Soak the slices in cold water so that some of the starch is washed out.
- 3
Drain the slices and pat them very thoroughly dry. Wet slices steam in the basket instead of browning.
- 4
Mix the potato slices with the rapeseed oil, the salt, the pepper and the dried marjoram. Peel the onions and cut them into rings.
- 5
Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C, because potato products are never cooked hotter than 180 °C.
- 6
Put the potato slices into the basket in a single layer with space between them and do not stack anything; cook larger quantities in two batches. Cook at 180 °C.
- 7
Add the onion rings, shake the basket vigorously and carry on cooking at 180 °C until everything is golden rather than dark.
- 8
Snip the chives into fine rings and scatter them over the hot Bratkartoffeln.
