Cook the fusilli in plenty of salted water until al dente, then drain and rinse briefly with cold water so they stop cooking but stay lukewarm.

Meanwhile, halve the cherry tomatoes and toss them in a large bowl with a pinch of salt so they release some juice. Drain the mozzarella balls and cut them in half.

Add the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and finely grated garlic to the tomato juices in the bowl and stir. Tip in the warm pasta and toss everything thoroughly.

Fold in the mozzarella and torn basil, then season with salt and pepper. Serve lukewarm, or cover and let the flavors mingle for a bit.
