Apple rings from the airfryer
A German everyday recipe for the whole country: apple rings in cinnamon sugar are the airfryer's answer to apple fritters, because a wet beer batter would simply run down through the basket. The rings turn soft and smell of cinnamon, and the sugar caramelises lightly at the edges. Warm with vanilla sauce or a scoop of ice cream, this is a dessert in a quarter of an hour.

Instructions
- 1
Wash the apples, rub them dry and push out the cores from top to bottom with an apple corer. That way the rings stay whole later and have an even hole in the middle.
- 2
Cut the apples crossways into 1 cm thick rings and drizzle them with the lemon juice so that they stay pale and do not turn brown.
- 3
Mix the sugar with the cinnamon in a shallow dish.
- 4
Brush the rings with a whisper-thin layer of rapeseed oil and lay them in the cinnamon sugar on both sides. The only job of the oil here is to hold the cinnamon sugar in place so that it does not end up loose in the basket.
- 5
Preheat the airfryer to 180 °C.
- 6
Lay the rings in the basket in a single layer, well spaced, and stack nothing; cook the rest in a second batch. Cook at 180 °C.
- 7
Turn the rings with tongs and carry on cooking at 180 °C until they are soft and the edges glisten golden brown.
- 8
Do the same with the second batch. Sprinkle the warm apple rings with the chopped almonds and serve at once.
