Classic Beef Burger

⏱ 40 min · 🍽 4 Servings · 🧂 13 Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 600 g ground beef
  • 4 piece brioche burger buns
  • 4 piece cheddar slices
  • 2 piece onions
  • 10 g butter
  • 5 g sugar
  • 60 g mayonnaise
  • 30 g ketchup
  • 15 g medium-hot mustard
  • 2 piece dill pickles
  • 4 piece lettuce leaves
  • 1 piece tomato
  • 1 pinch salt and black pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions into thin strips and caramelize them slowly with the butter and sugar over medium heat until deep golden, stirring now and then.
  2. For the sauce, stir together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and very finely chopped pickles. Wash the lettuce and slice the tomato.
  3. Divide the beef into 4 portions without overworking it and shape loose patties about 2 cm thick and slightly wider than the buns. Season generously with salt and pepper only just before cooking.
  4. Heat a grill or skillet until very hot. Sear the patties on each side; after flipping, top each with a slice of cheddar and let it melt. Split the buns and toast them cut-side down alongside.
  5. Spread the sauce on the bottom buns, stack with lettuce, tomato, the cheesy patty, and caramelized onions, crown with the tops, and serve immediately.
